Heartbreaking News on Cargo Plane Incident: Fatalities Increases to 13

The tally of victims resulting from the transport jet that caught fire and plummeted has now climbed to 13, per official reports.

Official's Statement

“On my way to the Teamsters’ memorial service, I learned of a thirteenth victim that died as a result of the UPS flight 2976 crash,” wrote the municipal leader in a online message. “My thoughts is with the families, companions and colleagues of all who were lost in this recently occurred disaster. We will endure this collectively.”

Victims Named

A statement from the company named the pilots on board the jet as Captain Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our sympathies reach out to all staff member who has been impacted and all in our local community – helping you and guaranteeing you obtain the care and resources you need is our priority,” the company’s message read.

Probe Updates

National authorities announced that the jet’s left wing ignited and an engine fell off shortly after liftoff from the aviation hub, causing the plane to fall and explode into a fireball.

The safety agency stated it is examining the aircraft’s service record, which was in Texas for maintenance a period ahead of the accident.

Flight tracking data showed the aircraft was on the tarmac in San Antonio, Texas from the start of last month to 18 October.

“We are cognizant that this jet was there in that city,” said an NTSB member on Thursday, without providing a precise time frame. “We will look at each aspect of service that was completed, from the Texas time, straight to the time of the trip.”

Recovery of Vital Evidence

The audio device and information unit were found, and the engine was discovered on the runway.

The units – called data containers – were constructed to survive collision damage and severe temperatures from fires, and they looked to be undamaged when discovered amid the crash debris. Investigators plan on analyzing information from the recorders.

Aircraft’s concluding flight details showed an elevation of that level and a speed of 210 miles per hour ahead of the accident.

Maintenance Background

Based on aviation authority documents from last month, a fissure on a component within the tank area demanded repairs.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which stated it provides aircraft servicing for the company’s aircraft and runs a service location in that city, declined to comment, but said it would cooperate fully when investigators contacted it.

Services Continue

Meanwhile, UPS Worldport operations resumed last night with its overnight or nighttime process, official Jim Mayer stated. Each of the three tarmacs at the aviation hub were also back in operation.

The UPS package handling facility in the city is the firm’s biggest. The center hires in excess of twenty thousand individuals in the area, manages 300 flights per day and organizes more than a huge volume of packages each hour.

Local Response

A candlelight vigil was conducted on the late afternoon of recently by the local Teamsters Union, which represents staff at the aviation hub, the firm’s primary shipping facility.

Teamsters Local 89, which stands for staff, commenced the memorial with a moment of silence at 5.14pm, the estimated moment of the accident before.

“This tragedy was so unexpected, so surprising,” the mayor addressed the assembly of 200. “No one had a opportunity to say goodbye to any of those who we have mourned.”
